make*do*mend: Zip It, Zip It Real Good, Saturday April 25th — 3 to 6 p.m.
Zippers can be a source of intimidation for even the most experienced sewers. In this class, become better friends with the zipper foot and make an exposed-zipper (not invisible zipper) pouch or two which will have you on your way to installing zippers in other projects.
Experience level: Advanced Beginner (you've either taken a couple of classes with us or you feel relatively comfortable with the machine but zippers remain challenging)
Materials needed (you'll definitely finish one bag, possibly two):
- Two fat quarters or quarter yards that coordinate (one as the exterior and the other the lining and then switch for the second)
- Two coordinating adjustable length 14” standard zippers (nylon, not metal or invisible)
- Coordinating thread (we have neutral threads in the studio but if you want your thread to match your fabric, you'll want to choose that before class for purchase)
*all materials available for purchase at Drygoods Design, including a 20% discount (excludes sale items) with proof of class registration. Support your local fabric shop; we love to see our fabrics be part of your creations in the studio!
