make*do*mend: Up Your Sewing Game - Duffle Bags - Saturday, November 2, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We love it when we find a bag that not only proves to be utilitarian but also can up sewing skills, without taking a ton of time. In this four-hour class, you'll get your fabric cut, work with a zipper, hardware and sewing in circles. We'll also cover seam finishes and discuss options for modification for future iterations.
Experience Level: Advanced Beginner: You're feeling relatively comfortable with the basics of sewing. Strong prerequisites would be our zipper or pillow class.
We'll be working off the Weekend Duffle Pattern from Purl Soho so you'll want the following items
- The Weekender Duffle by Purl Soho (PDF only)
- One yard of canvas fabric
- 5 yards webbing (1" or 1.25")
- 2-3/4" D rings or 2-1" D rings
- 1 slider at the same size of your webbing
- 2 snap swivel rings according to your webbing size
- Optional bias binding (or an extra 1/4 yard of your chosen fabric)
*all materials available for purchase at Drygoods Design, including a 20% discount with proof of class registration (excludes sale items). We love seeing our fabrics in what you make with us too!
If you plan to wash your finished bags, please PREWASH and press your fabrics prior to class.
